Hive LA Home is a Los Angeles based interior design company. Inspired by travel, nature, comfort, and functionality, Hive specializes in creating a warm and welcoming environment - without breaking the bank.
Partners Devon McKeon and Jessica Fleming met in 2004 while working in New York City. Brought together by after-work happy hours and a shared design aesthetic, their friendship blossomed. They're the gals who build the campfire, hang the shelves, and host the dinner party.
Devon McKeon grew up in the mecca of the design world, Toledo, Ohio. Her eye for reinventing spaces started early and she spent her childhood watching her mother remodel and decorate their home on average, every six months.
A move to New York City after college took her to ABC Carpet & Home where she perfected her skills creating beautiful tablescapes and beds for the visuals department.
After the Hive team relocated to Los Angeles, Devon decided to take a more hands-on approach in design and spent a year volunteering with Habitat for Humanity learning how to frame a room, hang drywall and wear steel toe boots. She worked for nearly a decade as a designer for the chic and famous at Rooms & Gardens in Santa Monica. Check out select projects here.
Devon will never turn down a game of rummikub, a home-cooked meal from her business partner, and ANOTHER chair or pillow.
Jessica Fleming was raised in a small town in Maine where she sewed clothes for her dolls and sheet-rocked her own bedroom at thirteen. Needless to say a do-it-yourself attitude was instilled at a young age.
After a stint in the rag trade at LA flea markets Jess began honing her talents in the Visuals department at Anthropologie where she became fast friends with the sparkling Ms. Devon McKeon.
Wanderlust struck in 2007, when Jess began a four-year adventure working on private yachts. Life at sea brought many valuable lessons including how to maximize small spaces and fend off angry pirates.
When Jess returned to LA she switched gears to become GM of Farmshop Restaurant and Artisan Market in Brentwood. Her love of food and entertaining continue, but lately she prefers to force it only on friends and focus on design.
