AVENIDA DE CORTEZ
THE HOUSE THAT HIVE BUILT
Together with our lovely client and a talented architect we refreshed this dated 1970s single family home in the Pacific Palisades into a natural, light-filled, spacious and warm California dream. We are thrilled to report that it survived the Palisades fire of 2025!
We set out to bring the home’s exterior to the present day with respect to the neighborhood and HOA. The siding was painted charcoal, a pool was installed, and new doors and windows showcase the beautiful Santa Monica Mountains. Utilizing a previously unpermitted parking area we extended the kitchen and raised the ceilings to the max.
The interiors are bright with modern touches against traditional elements inspired by our clients’ time spent living in England. We used pattern, color, and a mix of materials to create a layered lived-in feel. Honorable mention to the closets and pantry for being completed but not photographed. A dramatic before and after, to be sure!
